The Roy Shiell Collection
BG Color Fader
These photos are from the Collection of Roy Henry Shiell.
Roy was not married when he went to the war and most of his cards were sent home to his parents and sister. Some of the cards amongst the collection were sent home to the family by Roys brother, who also served in the war. After the war Roy married and became a farmer, he died in 1951. His wife continued to run the farm for many years and the photo's were kept in a box out in the barn. When the farm was sold the photos were going to be burnt, but fortunately were retrieved by Judi Sharpes Father. They sat in his garage until his death when they were then passed on to Judi - Roys Shiell's neice.
Judi has very generously provided them to this site for all to see. I am so very grateful for her wonderful contribution. Please take a look at this collection, it has some fantastic photographs and many unidentified soldiers.
